About Grand Island

Welcome to Grand Island, New York!

As its name implies, Grand Island is an island that lies at the heart of the world-famous Niagara River, between Canada and the United States, Buffalo and Niagara Falls. It's quite large, almost the same size as Manhattan. But it's not covered in skyscrapers. Grand Island is covered in trees, parks (including three state parks), lovely farms, markets, quaint restaurants, beautiful vistas, bike and hiking trails, kayak launches, boat marinas, and leafy neighborhoods totaling over 20,000 residents.

Despite its peaceful setting, Grand Island is just 10 minutes from the edge of Niagara Falls (the mist looms over our north-western half), 10 minutes from a Sabres professional hockey game, and 10 minutes from some of the best shops, theater, and museums our region has to offer. We are proud of our history as everything from a frontier town to a Victorian Era getaway, and we look forward to our future as a center of conservation, health, and wellness in Western New York.

From all of us, we look forward to seeing you soon here, on Grand Island!
